Belastingdienst: The Mobile Competence Center
De Belastingdienst (Dutch Tax Authority) is one of the largest employers in the Netherlands. As a part of Dutch society, it cannot ignore its employers as well as Dutch citizens are increasingly using mobile apps to complete transactions, shop and – yes – pay their taxes. De Belastingdienst is in the middle of transforming its infrastructure to provide innovative mobile solutions to its employers and Dutch tax payers.
Senior project manager Toine Veenhuis, working within the Mobile Competence Center at de Belastingdienst is responsible for the digitization of both internal and external processes. Veenhuis: “Over the past two years, de Belastingdienst has made a tremendous effort in turning around the organization’s infrastructure”, Veenhuis explains. “We provide support to our own employees to make their jobs as easy as possible.”
De Belastingdienst has developed apps that simplify processes within the organization, for example to centralize knowledge on apps in order to be accessible for employees anytime and anywhere with no teletrack. “These innovations are the result of several conversations within the organization. The conversations exposed people’s needs and desires to make their work at or contact with de Belastingdienst more convenient.
In his presentation at Mobile Convention Amsterdam, Toine Veenhuis will elaborate on where de Belastingdienst stands now, what the organization has learned so far, and will explains future steps in mobile within the enterprise.
“What do we want to achieve as a business? Because technically, the sky is the limit”, Veenhuis knows. “In our assignment to make things easy for everyone we can, and will, do much more.”
