Fairphone puts social values first at MCA

Consumers seem to have lost connection with everyday objects. Our mobile phones for instance contain at least 60 minerals, but do we know where those minerals come from and who was involved in sourcing, smelting, producing and ultimately in recycling them?

FairPhone's approach is to open up this system, step by step, and give users a choice for fairer electronics. It's ultimate goal is a seriously cool smartphone; one that is produced with minimal harm to people and planet.

Fairphone's Founder and CEO, Bas van Abel, is speaker during Mobile Convention Amsterdam and explores how through social innovation we can reconnect people to the things they own. ‘If you can’t open it, you don’t own it.’
