"NFC is not consumer-led"

Takashi's Dan Armstrong seriously doubts whether NFC-technology is consumer-led, like it should be. Armstrong thinks NFC is primarily technology-led. "It's like bluetooth", he says. "Who is asking for it anyway?".

Armstrong explained this controversial point of view during his presentation on the first day of the Mobile Convention Amsterdam. Armstrong is working on mobile banking, mobile payments, NFC, cards and alliances doubts if consumers are willing to pay for the NFC-technology. "Consumers think it is cool and tricky, but does it fill a need not being currently met", he states.

During his presentation Arstrong show tricks and examples to prove his case and asks questions to get people thinking. "What if you need to carry your cards for the next ten more years? Is this then all a trick? There's a lot of PR by big companies, but where's the beef?".
