NOS brings the FIFA World Cup 2014 to your mobile
This summer, the Dutch broadcasting station NOS, will bring the FIFA World Cup to smartphones. At Mobile Convention Amsterdam, NOS will present its mobile plans for the summer of 2014.
Head of the New Media division at NOS Lara Ankersmit explains at Mobile Convention Amsterdam that her organization is not even close to completing its mobile ambition. “Summer 2014 will be important during for example the FIFA World Cup, held in Brazil. The majority of people who follow the news, does so through smartphones and apps. We’ll be offering our audience new ways of following the matches played at the World Cup.”
Lara Ankersmit furthermore explains what the NOS has done in the past to become and stay the mobile innovator in broadcasting and providing the news in more easy ways combined with television and live streaming. Based on statistics Lara Ankersmit demonstrates why broadcasting companies should focus their business on mobile
The broadcasting station is known for its punctuality and the fact that her audience can simply always use NOS’s services, no matter where they are. The last two years it substantially increased its audience by turning broadcasting mobile. NOS launched its mobile phone app in April 2012. The iPad app followed in June of 2013.
Update: Curious on how the app is doing today, when the World Cup is half way? Read it here.
